i have had an enquiry for the hours 10 until 2 o clock, what would you charge for those hours, considering the child is under 5 and the hours before or after cant be filled, would you charge an hourly rate or for a full day:(

I market myself as a flexible childminder and I actively welcome part time children...

So I would just charge for the hours (plus pick up / drop off times if relevant). :D

I agree its our advantage over nurseries etc! also i have one at those hours and i quite like it as i have a bit of time after the school drop off and before the school pick ups!

Tricky one - depends how many spaces you have to fill and how many days a week it's for.

Whatever you decide you have to make sure it's worth your while financially.

I would compromise tell her it fills one of your under 5 spaces but say you will charge for a minimum of 5 hours. She has the option to drop at 0900 or pick up at 1500 then also.

I agree with others, I prefer to have less littlies once the school children come home so I'd prefer it if they went home earlier.

my 1st mindee had these hours. at the time i was happy to get the work - but its a good job mum is happy to drop off and pick up wherever we are because otherwise i would be tied to the house every morning and afternoon , and resentful of so little money for the inconvenience!

I'd charge for half a day but it depends how busy you are. I took on a 3yr mindee for 1 day a week and regretted it ever since as he holds up a space and everyone who has been out to me need the day he comes. Think about it carefully.

do you charge per hr? i class anythink over 4hrs a full day so would prob charge half day rate but you also need to make it worth while as you wont be able to fill other hrs, there good hrs tho have you other lo? as you may need mum to drop off at groups if you go so make sure shes ok with this. im sure it will work out for you.
