For the children who've left? Do we keep them in the accident report book or do we put them in the loft with their old contracts?

I separate mine out so they are in the children's files.
I keep them with the permissions, contracts etc...
I know you know this, but I will say it for newbies...
You have to keep them for 21 years 5 months in case the child sues for something that happened while in your care.

I do the same as Sarah, keep them in the child's files & put in the loft in a secure box when they leave.
