we already have a labrador which we've had for four years and a cat which we got in september last year, current parents are happy with this and as for new parents they either love it or hate it, but now , one of my parents has asked me if i would like one of their kittens, its the last one and they cant find a home for it, i would love to have it but not sure about how other parents would feel.
those of you that have cats and dogs how many do you have and how do parents view it?

I have a dog and 3 cats. Most parents that have contacted me think that it is great. My newest parent has chosen me because of the animals:)

Seeing as you already have pets can't see it being an issue. They choose you knowing you have pets bet late to complain really :)

I have 3 cats and 1 dog, never been a problem. I find that the kids arrive the cats depart, their not stupid!! All my mindees love playing with them and had a great time when the kitten was young, throwing toys for him, cuddles etc...

Go for it:thumbsup:

See it as an opportunity for the mindees to watch him grow, :)

I have 3 adult dogs and a puppy. The puppy was bred by myself and was not meant to be staying as colours weren't right, (I show them) but she has a heart murmur so I don't feel right rehoming her until I know she is well, looks like she is staying as she is adorable anyway.
None of my parents have ever expressed any concern at the dogs, they have loved the fact that their children have grown up watching puppies come into the world and grow, leave for their new homes and stay, they respect animals and some have helped socialise and even train puppies with me. If parents had got a problem then they are free to find somewhere animal free. ;)

I have 1 cat, everyone is fine with it, never had a problem and the children look for the cat when they come in which can be a good distraction for new children settling in.

We had a cat and then got a kitten about 10 months ago and parents were fine. Seeing as you have one already i cant see it
being an issue. It is always something i mention when people call incase of allergies etc so if they are they wouldnt come anyway!
Id'e take him/her how can you say no?!!

I have a dog, 2 cats and 4 rabbits. 2 lots of parents have been pleased that we have pets as one LO loves cats, she always looks for the cats when she comes in, and 1 LO wants a dog so parents are happy. Funnily enough none of the children are particularly interested in the rabbits. I'd def go for it, I wouldn't be able to resist.

We've got a cat and a rabbit and although not minding yet the people who have enquired have been told that we have pets and there has been no problem.

A friend of mine chose her childminder because she had animals. Meant that her kids could have the joy of pets without her actually having to get one!

Plus think of how much the mindees could learn watching the kitten grow!

thanks folks, i find that parents either love the idea of pets or hate them, i have actually had 2 children and 1 parent that have been afraid of dogs but have come to me because they dont want their children to be frightend of dogs so i guess it works both ways,
got the kitten sunday, my cat is right put out, today the dog the cat and the kitten all sat on carpet, the cat growled and the kitten the kitten growled at the dog and the dog just sat their looking at them both!, the kids thought it was halirous:laughing:
