Just a quick question, i have a lady coming to see me next week who is due to give birth in 6 weeks, but not going back to work until February. Would you charge a retainer and if so how much.

Im not sure you can charge a retainer for an unborn child..
Personally i dont charge retainers, people in my town just wont pay :(
I would charge £250 deposit when the child is born.
Good luck!

No I meant when the baby was born, I have never charged before and I really dont think i could until February. I will probably do that and charge a deposit. I do know people who charge a half fee retainer but they are usually full and people pay for the place but i am not that full so i dont want to turn work away;)

I have never asked for a retainer or a deposit as i just feel it is something i cant do i always just hold the place and hope that they start with me, but then i have never had a problem with parents changing their minds etc:)
