Hi I am currently registering to become a childminder, my question is at the moment during the holidays look after my 11 year old nephew which I get paid for which I know is fine due he is age. My question is do I still have get all the policies signed etc. Hope this makes sense. Laura

I would say definitely yes from experience. I have looked after my niece since she was 6 months old. She is now 11. Because of the relationship she has been my worst parent. She is only now starting to realise this is my living and not a favour to her. She never pays me on time, never turns up to pick up on time and doesnt see why she has to pay for holidays even though as she is my sister I give her 4 weeks unpaid per year and half pay for any others. :angry:

I always take all parents through paperwork - I do a few before and after schoolers including ones from the local high school and find it important and best to be on a professional footing with parents - relatives or not :D
