exactly what i was going to suggest , but mainly for your older children. 15 months is difficult , I would probably just head off to the toy library for things like a big fire engine , ambulance etc and build on their play that way , introducing new vocabulary , following up with books / etc and maybe walk to fire station to see the engines.

I am just in the process of re-writing my People who help us e-book to include illustrations!! :jump for joy:

The 5 year old might enjoy things like mask making, role playing if you have a doctor's kit (which will double for vet and nurse), being a paramedic and zooming round the garden...

Enjoy! :D

Playing with the favourite fire engine for a 15 month child could come under a few areas. Observations from when you are playing with him could include...
Psed,
dispositions and attitudes , discovering more about likes / dislikes
sense of community - learn that their voice and actions have an effect on others#
CLL
- language for thinking - respond to different things said to them in a familiar context with a special person.
PSRN
space , shape , measures - find out what toys are like and can do through handling objects
PD
movement and space - use their increasing mobility to connect with toys objects and people
KUW
design and making - interested in pushing and pulling things
ict - explore things with interest and sometimes press parts or lift flaps etc to achieve sounds / movement etc.
CD
being creative - explore by repeating patterns of play.

You could extend the play and use the fire engine tyres to make paint tracks , put them in the sand etc. walk to the fire station , look at fireman sam books / dvds , sing londons burning....
