The Value of Paint

When I'm painting here or painting at home
Please please mum and dad will you leave me alone.
In your adult eyes it may look like a mess,
but honestly Mum, I'm doing my best!

Don't ask me 'what is it?'
Dont say 'why that space?'
and let me put three or four eyes on a face.
One day when I'm older,
I'll conform just like you
right now I'm enjoying colours and goo.

That green bits my garden;
the red bits my blood.
That bit in the corner, that bit that's runny,
is you- the most beautiful Mummy.

So thanks for the paper, the brushes and paint,
I might make a mess, you know I'm no Saint.
So give me an apron or just put down plastic
and I'll paint you creatures fantastic.
When I have finished, let me help clear away.
Because every new day,
I AM LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

Think i might pinch this one too. I love poems, I print them off & put them on my notice board. I recently did this one & got all the childrens handprints around it -

THEY WILL REMEMBER

I take care of your children.
I love them.
I teach them.
I clean them, and
I feed them.
And when nighttime comes,
my heart worries about them
I take care of your children.
I see their first steps.
I hear their first words.
I share their happiness, and
I feel their hurts.
I take care of your children,
as if they were my own.
And when they are grown,
And no longer need me,
My love will be a part of them
deep within the heart of them.
They will know that I was there for them unconditionally.
And they will remember!

Thats lovely. My friend and I were talking earlier about letting children do their own creations.

I will print this off and give her a copy.

Thanks:thumbsup:

Although im not their mother ,
i care for them each day ,
i cuddle , read and sing to them ,
and watch them as they play.

i see each new accomplishment ,
and help them grow and learn ,
i understand their language,
and listen to their concerns.

they come to me for comfort,
I kiss away the tears,
they proudly show their work to me ,
mine are the loudest cheers!!

I am not their mother,
but my role is oh so strong ,
I nurture them and keep them safe,
though maybe not for long.

I know some day the day will come ,
when we will have to part ,
but i know each child ive minded for
is forever in my heart.

I like this one

There are always so many of my fingerprints to see,
On the furniture and walls from sticky, grubby me,
But if you stop and think a while,
You'll see I'm growing fast,
Those little handprints will disappear,
You can't bring back the past.
So here's a small reminder,
To keep not wipe away,
Of how those tiny hands once looked,
To make you smile one day.
