We did ours yesterday because it is the only day where I have all 3 of my older LO's together. We looked at the tiny sprouts with magnifying lenses and made labels for them. On ours the sprouts on one variety are green and on the other they're purple.

Yes mine were purple on the emeraldy ones. (assume we all get the same varieties??) we are also trying 2 tatties from Tesco to see what happens.

Well, now that I have googled chitting, I can tell you, no I'm not!
We have decided against growing potatoes this year as we have run out of garden area that has not been previously used for potatoes and we ended up with our own version of the great Irish potato famine last year. Whilst I am all for teaching children about history, I don't think we need another re-enactment.
Good luck with all your crops, I am sure they will all do great.

They have provided us with grow bag type things so no need for famine!

I chitted on Monday as I have most children then so everyone could get involved. The under 5s chitted in the morning with the Rocket and after school with the over 5s doing the Vale Emerald - so a bit of healthy competition going on. They are also taking it in turns to do the weather chart everyday - oh such excitement:rolleyes:

Hi i am chitting but i was wondering do you all use the plastic sacks provided, I have considered using our old re-cycling red boxes (we now have 3 bins each) instead. I thought they might be a bit more robust. Or could i put the plastic sacks inside my red boxes.

I have never grown anything before, if there are any gardners out there do you have any advice.
