I recieved a letter last week saying i have to pay a penalty of £100 as they havent recieved my tax return for end apr 2009, im filling in my appeal form and im a bit confused-it really doesnt take much- anyway, is this the latest return they wanted, if posting post by october?

If so I posted this in time, they did send something back saying they wanted more info on something, so since then ive tried phoning them to get details to do it online as before done it online but lost log in details so kept trying to get new ones sent out but nothing ever arrived, do you think ill have to pay anyway?

Probably - but worth appealing - you never know!

It is always sending anything to the IR by recorded post. It costs .65p but opposed to £100 must be worth it.

Unless you have proof of what you say I would expect the fine to stand and if there is tax to pay there will be interest penalties, so get it sorted ASAP to reduce your costs.
