Although I can get a bursary I was surprised that the course will cost £1165.00 and I'll only get £800.00 towards it. £365.00 is quite a lot of money to find and I was shocked that when you really are having to do it that you would be expected to pay so much.
Has anyone else done an NVQ3 and if they don't mind telling me did they have to contribute so much? :(

Hi
I have just enrolled to do nvq3 as well and the grant is also £800 but the course costs £950 which means I only have to find £150 + £30 enrollment fees. I thought that was still dear. I suppose it depends on how much the college charges. Have you started the course yet? Mine is starting in April and this is really exciting:jump for joy: Anyway good luck!

yea, I did ask about that and was told I would have to pay 30 %. I think it would work out the same.
Thats why I am doing DHC, only have to pay 10% which works out as £80.

Mine is being paid for through the Transformation Fund and I got a bursery of £492. I would not have been able to do it if it had cost that much.

I am just waiting to find out how much i have been granted towards mine. The course costs £450 & i either pay the first £50 or nothing!!! Nothing sounded good to me, the tutors are just waiting for my paperwork to be signed or something & they will then let me know. Either way, its cost nothing like yours!!

Mine was paid through the transformation fund. They did tell us that if anyone dropped out any time through the co**** they would have to pat the money back.

Mine is funded through the transformation fund, I believe the cost was around £1400. I wonder if the colleges set their price according to how much funding is around?

I got a leter saying the local college had funding so Childminders could do it for free. SO I applied but got knocked back because I have GCSEs

So I am now waiting to find ou how much it will cost me. They said something about getting council funding but I dnt know where to start with that!

I cant believe you have been turned down because of this, believe me you certainly need some to be able get through it.

You should ask your development officer or your early years team about funding, that's where my information about the transformation fund came from.

Good luck hope you get funding

Carolyn and I did not pay anything for our NVQ3 but it was a few years ago now. Was thinking of the next step through Transformation Fund, but applications need to be in and accepted by end of March, so doubt I will have time to submit, be accepted ,and find nearby College/ Training Centre within this time scale. So maybe I will just chill and come on here instead of more studying . To be honest I have learnt more on here than anywhere else. maybe I should ask Pauline if we can all have NVQ in Forum Studies ? ;)
