Startup costs?

Sorry if this has been asked already somewhere.

I'm in the process of redecorating and carpeting my playroom can I keep these receipts and claim them as startup costs?

If it is a new playroom then yes but if no wear and tear covers it.

Depends what you mean by new really lol it is currently the spare/junk room!

New as in newly built.

If you are just starting up I cannot see why not but check with the IR for the correct advice
