Don't know if any of you work at the weekends.Just wondered if you charge a higher rate of pay.
Also if you mind into the evenings in the week do any of you charge a different rate after a certain time e.g 7pm or 8pm.

Hello Deb

I do not work weekends now but I did

My fees are usually £3 an hour

At weekends I charged £5 an hour

Evenings I sometimes work late till 9pm

I charge normal fees from 7am till 6pm eg £3 an hour

Hours needed before or after these times I will work them but charge my overtime fee of £5 an hour

Hope that helps

i charge £5 an hour if I work at weekends. I do not work late apart from one family and just charge mynormal hourly fee but think I am going to overhaul all my charges in 2009 (I alter my fees every other year) and charge more if I work after 6pm.

Don't normally work weekends but the charges I've put are
before 8 am / after 6 pm (unsocial hours) - double time (assuming they've asked first, if they just turn up late without arranging it first then its £5 per fifteen mins after 6 pm)
Saturdays 8-6 time and a half
Sundays & Bank Holidays 8-6 double time

I'm just trying to work my fees out for when i get registered. I'll be charging double fees for baby sitting or out of hours to try and put people off, i would rather not be working 24 hours a day!

Yes I think you should put your fees up for weekends and bank holiday

I have worked both and believe me it is no fun and hard work - you get no time with your own family either

I work every weekend at the moment and holidays i have caluculated for the year and share it over 52 weeks so maybe one week i only have them at the weekend 2 days but still charge a one set weekly fee even if i have them 4days in the school holidays its the same price regardless

Hope this makes sence?!

I agree with Angel, been there done that etc . I used to work 7.30am - 7.30 pm around shifts, also weekends, bank hols and even overnights, but its all too much. One of my mindees has just finished on Dec 21st i will miss her but not those long days. I will have 2 days 7.30 starts and 3 days 8am starts and finish at 5.30 pm (sound like heaven to me ) I used to do all this for no enhanced fee !!!!!! ( soft Iam )

Hi there,

I don't work weekends or evenings, but in my contracts I do put that I would charge time and a half for any unsociable hours i.e. anything before 7 am, after 6pm or weekends.

When i told the mum the weekly rate she didnt want to pay it even though its tax credits that pay it, she was paying more for her previous childminder!

I was just gratefull to get my first child.....

I dont do weekends or late nights so I can spend time with my own kids.

I have in my portfolio that i would charge double fees for weekends but so far have never been asked for it.

The only time I have ever done weekends is when an existing family are in difficulty.

Pregnancy, death or ill health. Otherwise I would end up doing 24/7.:panic:
