Hi,

I am going to be minding my first little one in a few weeks. I will be minding him 8am-5:30 mon to fri. I am charging £35.00 per day. The mum asked me if it would be okay to drop him off 5-10mins earlier in the mornings so she can take her other daughter to nursery. I said yes that will be fine.
Now i'm kicking myself for saying yes as these 5-10mins will mount up and i dont know how to go about charging as i have said it will be £35.00 per day.
Any advice or is it too late for me to say anything?

Thank you x

Hi Marlene,

No i haven't signed a contract yet, but i am desperate to mind the little boy as he is my first so i dont want to lose him. I think i should of put more thought into my prices and how i'm going to do things. I was a bit stumped as what to say to her and needed her custom.
I guess i will learn as i go along.....It's all so new to me at the moment.

Thanks x

To be honest, I would have done the same as you.

You could have a word when you do the contract if you want to charge more for the earlier start

Hi I would change the time on the contract to 7.50 and stick to it, and i would not open my door till then because 5 mins turns into 10 mins turns into 15 mins and and! and if your happy with £35.00 a day with the extra time then so be it ...that works out to nearly £3.75 per hour which sounds great as i'm on £3.50 per hour for part time...good luck :) :) :)

Thanks everyone.

Think i'll just put 7.50am start on contract but stick with the £35 per day, as i can't afford to lose this one.

Thanks for all the advice x

If you've got a 4 week settling-in, you could see how it goes, then at the end of the 4 weeks, either carry on or tell parents it's not working and re-negotiate the contract :D

I have got two that drop off 10min early and they did ask, i dont charge them for that. But as i have said before you can ask the to collect early if you need to and not deduct any money. So its all swings and roundabouts.:)

I've got one that drops off at that time and is here till 6pm, I only charge

£25.00. I think I need to move! Or just increase my fees. I don't mind the

extra 10 mins though as it means I have plenty time to get my lot ready for

school.
