I have applied to do a PTTLS course in May/June today. Has anyone done this course apparently the tutor was saying it is pretty full on and in order to get on the course I have to do a seven minute microteach in front of a panel of 2/3 people.

Any advice...

Kelly

Sumaira this is a thread from 2008 you have pulled up.

I'm afraid nobody had heard of the qualification then.

Perhaps it might be better if you start a new thread and see if any of our new members have come across it.

Ive got a friend who has done this. It is a level 3 course and takes about 30 hours. Its the first of three that you need to do to be able to teach adults, as far as I am aware you need a level 3 in what ever subject it is you want to teach. My friend hasn't so not sure how she got on the course in the first place.

Hi Sumaira

I first posted when I was looking for help on this course, because each course is slightly different the assingments are all different, so not sure I can help there, but I suggest you lay your hands of a couple of good books, I suggest:

Teaching today by Geoff Petty
Training to Teach in the Learning & skills sector by Keeley Browne

You could also try
Teaching Adults by Rogers

These books should help you to understand the requirements of the course.

As I was doing the course to enable me to tutor the CACHE DHC, I did my micro teach on one of the modules of the DHC/ICP course. I suggest you choose whatever you are planning on teaching for your microteach.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else

Ptlls is the first part of teacher training. It is a short course leading on to the full teacher training. You must hold a level 3 as a minimum in the subject you will be teaching.
