I've got an after schooler starting with me in the next couple of weeks that turns 5 in May. She is in full time education so do I need to do a learning journal for her????

You need to do one until she is at the end of reception class.

I guess she is in full time school so they would be her main eyfs provider. I would start a scrap book with her, put in any photos you take with captions, art work etc... you could link things to the learning areas if you want to. Let her help you put it together when she is with you so it is more of a memory book. Remember to check with her teacher at times to see where she is at and if you can follow on from interests at school, this will be your working in partnership with other professionals.

you just need to do it until the summer break ( 31st august after their 5th birthday)

I don't think you will need a huge folder as for other kids who spend more time with you. I beleive the child is with you for couple of hours, the child will spend more time at a school. But you still have to do it

I have one eyfs after schooler who comes 3 times a week.....she is in my house for 20-25 mins at the most, just enough time for a drink and a snack, she does not come in the holidays.....i'm afraid i do not do anything for her other than a few photos in an A5 book...but usually forget:blush:

It is hard when they are only with you a short period of time.

I would do a mini learning journal for her, not too much info just the basics of what she does when she is with you etc.

Good luck x
