Last Thursday I had someone come to see me about looking after their little one from September, and they said they would phone me this week - but nothing yet :( Do I phone to ask if they have made a decision or leave it?

You could phone & say you have another interested party for the space in question....

I don't think there's anything wrong with a follow up phone call, provided you keep it short, polite and businesslike. And certainly no more than one of them! It's better than wondering.

I give out a leaflet saying;

"if I haven't heard from you within 7 days I shall assume you have made alternative arrangements"

So that way I can allocate that space to someone else if needs be without wondering if they will get back to me.

I usually leave it tbh... I think they'll have seen loads of minders and a few nurseries and they often can't be bothered to ring...

Nothing lost by calling them though if you want closure :D

I would ( and have!) call them.

I normally just say its a curtosy follow up call so you knew which spaces you could be advertising!

Some people just don't phone no manners I say:rolleyes:

I would call... I normally do now. I get impatient and TBH I dont like parents taking a bloomin age to decide. They either want the place or not. I usually say to all parents at our first meeting that I need to hear from them by (about 3 days) as I have another meeting and would like to cancel it if they do want to take the space - normally works.

Let us kmow what happens

I would call too - nothing wrong in wanting to know where you stand is there ?

Good luck whatever you decide

If you really want to phone you could just use that excuse already mentioned that you've been recieved a call from another parent wanting to look around.

I have the same problem, a parent came to see me nearly 3 weeks ago and when she left she said im sure i will be ringing you soon.

Havent heard anything, and i know the other 2 childminders she went to see havent heard either, i find it quite annoying when people dont let you know.
