I've just had a phone call from a woman wanting 3 hours care a week for a 13 month old child. I told her that I only did a minimum of 8 hours a week.

She asked me how much I charged and I told her £2.75 per hour which is the going rate round here.

Guess what she said....................

I only want to pay £2 per hour, would that be alright?

Guess what I said..............................

:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

She didn't seem to understand about the minimum hours bit.

SO- £6 for 3 hours work - oh yes please.

Do I have mug written across my forehead?:censored: :censored: :censored:

Whaaaat! Cheeky woman would she work for £2 an hour I think not! Goodness £2.75 is little enough as it is, down here in the smoke the going rate is £4 and I met a childminder at a meeting from a neighbouring borough who charges and gets £7!
Perhaps some parents think we are childcare charities and they can make donations of what they think when they think! :censored:

I thik parents all assume we do the job fo the love of it (which of course is partly true), but obviously we don't have bills, mortgages, children that need feeding so how dare we ask to get paid as well!!!!!!!!!!!

No I didn't. Hubby had to go out on a mercy mission, so I had to stay at home. Bit naffed off really because I was told it was a really good course - and it was free!!!

Did you enjoy it?

yes was good actually, and she did lots of samples of healthy food,
had carrot and ginger soup, fruit and a lovely banana cake.

All of which I will be trying soon :)

Best thing is, I've just spoken to my network co-ordinator who gave the woman my number and apparently she only needs a childminder so she can go shopping in peace.

I might - just might have understood if she was short of money, but this takes the biscuit.
