One of my lo's just shoved a raisin up his nose :panic: I didn't touch it but he got a bit stressed himself and pushed his finger up and its gone even farther up his nostril!!

This was literally 5 mins before mum was due to pick up so I waited til she came then explained and advised she take him round to docs.

There's always something to stress about in this job

These things happen and as they are small i think it is tempting for LO's

I had a LO last year do it but e did it at home, then i had another little girl who put a pea up her nose i laid her on the floor and got my tweezers to get it she had not stuck it up to far i couldnt get her to blow her nose as she didn't know how to so this seemed the easiest option

I did think about tweezers but then if I pushed it up farther I would have been mortified

Had it been my own child I would have had a go.

My DD ended up in hospital 3 times after shoving a rubber in her ear! They couldn't get it out after 3 goes with differnat specialists so she had to go in as a day patient and have it removed under anasthetic - luckily i had very understanding panrents as the 10 days that took to sort out was a bit haphazrd to say the least

Be careful about tweezers up noses - if they slipped alot of damage could be done - best left to medics.

And dont forget the accidnet/incident form?? :)

Dobby they were blunt ended and if it had been any further up i would have gone to docs with her but it was just my fingers were to big for her little nose and was worried if she had tried she would of pushed it further up. The parent thought it was quite funny when she signed my book

Last year i ended up at A& E and will never live it down i brought myself a new pair of earphones with the different ended tips didnt think about changing them so after a busy day decided to have a soak in the bath and listen to my ipod
When i got out i pulled the earphones out and never realised i left the tip in my ear, it felt a bit blocked and as i have psorias in my ear i thought it was blocked so put my finger in my ear and pushed it further in my ear:eek: my DH could see it but not get to it so at 10.30pm my DH drove me to A&E they got it out but all the doctors and nurses thought it was hilarious as kids stick thing up noses/in ears not adults.

I have certainly learnt a lesson and now have different earphones

How awful!! years ago my sister-in-law was looking at a big moth on the kitchen window, if suddenly flew in her ear!! it went in so deep and her mum couldn't get it out they had to take her to A&E for them to remove it!! she's in her 50's now and still shudders at the thought:eek:

My dd when she was little put a small rubber up her nose. I paniced and told her to keep still then I managed to pull it out. It really pooped me up thinking she could breath it in!!:panic:

My nephew stuck a peanut up his nose years ago.

He had to go under GA to get it removed and the Dr gave SIL a right old earful, as if she had done it on purpose.

It can be quite dangerous because if it is too high it can go down into the lungs

Glad the lo is OK

One of mine had a thing about putting small stones in their ear - thankfully it only happened when they were with mum and dad - they ended up in a&e too!
