Right if I didn't start minding till aug 09 can I write all my account details for the months previous (when I started buying resources and course mileage and Ofsted fees etc can I claim these under aug instead of wasting an accounts page fir a few pieces each month?

You can do them at anytime, if you have an itemised list, just put it in as start up costs and course expenses and keep the itemised list as a receipt, at the end of the year you are only submitting three lines of accounts, so it doesn't matter in this instance exactly which weeks you list it as, one lump sum entry in your first week of actual minding is okay.

i started in august too :D:D so i put all my start up costs in august section xx

I would put them all in as Starting Up Costs in the first month of working as long as it was in the current tax year. If not I would put them in March and lodge as a loss and carry forward to April of the next year.
