I may be looking after a child with FAS in the near future, don't know much about it, will google, but has anyone got any real life experience of caring for such a child (would be just over 1yo but apparently size and developmental age of 6mo) and the day to day of it?

oooh that looks fab, thank you :)

What kind of problems did you run into? Did it have any impact on the care of the others?

The child I cared for - no it didn't, but they did require extra care in lots of little ways (which was no big deal), but it really does depend how affected the child is (& also how old they are)...I would suggest you meet the child & have a slightly extended sttling in period...I would happily work with another child with FAS in the future, but you need to approach it as you would any child that has additional needs. Poor dab, there is a little boy over the road ffrom us that has FAS and he is fostered, he has quite profound social problems as he struggles to recognise boundaries and doesn't behave appropriately towards other children.... try asking your early years team too, as there is often extra support available if you are caring for a child with disabilties. Good luck, Jenni:)
