Saying goodbye in my newsletter

I have a mindee who is leaving at the end of the month. I want to add it to my newsletter but it just doesn't sound right :

Saying Goodbye
I am sad to say that J will be leaving us at the end of January. To mark her last day with us, I shall be taking the little ones to Thxxx Farm on 29 January.

I perhaps wouldnt say "I am sad to say.................

But say "(Child **) is leaving, we have had lots of fun together and good luck in the future etc............then about going out ............

I always try not to let the children know I am sad as it can upset them too.
