Hi everyone,

I have had an enquiry about babysitting on a friday and saturday night from 6pm until 1.30am while mum works. it is for 3 boys aged 9mths, 2 and 4.

My question is do i charge the same as if i was minding them during day?? If not what would you charge?

Do i do a contract the same as if i was minding them from my house??

I know i need to inform NCMA i am babysitting but is there anything else i would need to do??

Thanks

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
If you are babysitting in your capacity as a childminder and want to be covered by your insurance etc, you will need to do a risk assesssment of their home :)...
I've only done it for one family, but just as a trusted friend and not put it through my books as childminding, although I also do childmind for them in my own home.

Hope some else has more thorough info for you :)

bws,
Wendy

If you are babysitting in their own home then i would charge what the going rate for babysitters in your area is.

You do not have to be registered to look after a child in their own home. So i would treat it as a babysitting job and not childminding.:)

I would agree with wendywu.

The thing is though in my area people tend to use young girls as babysitters round here and they get paid a tenner a night:eek:

Theres no way im doing that and also im assuming bwecause mum is going to work she will get tax credits. The only reason i would be having them at their house is because of the times so they can go to bed IYSWIM.

I agree too, If you are in their home treat it as a seperate thing.

In our area of Northampton the going rate is £7.50 phr. Some charge more after 12am .. ie £10 after midnight.

The rate doesnt change whether you have 1 or 4 children.

Hope this helps.

I have to pay my (16 yr old) babysitter £6ph, my hourly rate was £3.50, so I would go with the going rate for babysitting not Childmininding. :D
