when talking to my ds`s nursery teacher yesturday i was told that theve been told by thier support worker not to do obs just to do next steps i was gobsmacked as i do lot of obs on my mindies, has any one else heard this? if so am i wrong by doing them. don`t want ofted breathing down my neck for not either doing them or not, don`t know what to do now:(

I dont really see now they can do next steps without doing obs - what are they baseing the next steps on? Surely you cannot plan a next step without observing some sort of starting point?

as aothers have said , obs are where your next steps come from . very odd!

i think we should be doing obs and am going to continue doing them. his teacher agreed with me that we should do them but has been told not to

It is a requirement of the Eyfs that we do observations, assessments and planning for all children.

This should be part individual and part group.

Some people do come out with silly things don't they? :rolleyes:

You carry on doing what you know is right :D
