It's more of a 'go with their interests' sort of planning. I mainly plan my themes with my preschool age LO's but many of the activities are accessible for younger ones.
I have 2 books, ' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Games-Play-Toddlers-Jackie-Silberg/dp/1897675550/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262726349&sr=1-3)Games to play with Toddlers (http://astore.amazon.co.uk/childminding-21?node=3&page=3)' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Games-Play-Toddlers-Jackie-Silberg/dp/1897675550/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262726349&sr=1-3) and ' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Games-Play-Two-Year-Olds/dp/1897675569/ref=pd_sim_b_5)Games to play with 2 yr olds (http://astore.amazon.co.uk/childminding-21?node=3&page=3)' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Games-Play-Two-Year-Olds/dp/1897675569/ref=pd_sim_b_5)by Jackie Silberg and Brilliant Publications that have some very good ideas and they are available dirt cheap on amazon marketplace for a secondhand copy.

Maybe you could post on here what they currently like doing and people can make suggestions of other activities you can do or what you could add to their play to extend their learning.

Your planning must be child led... what are they doing? what toys do they like? what do they play with at home?...

Follow that through with new and exciting activities you can build on next session.

Plus a good dollop of things children that age like - songs, dances, music, treasure baskets, sensory books etc :D

i go with the flow , have continuous provision such as toddler toys , treasure baskets , but as for planning its more about what they are learning at the moment. is the 10 month old crawling? trying to crawl? so lots of rolling balls that will encourage this. or maybe they really like tractors , ducks , whatever .just extend from there. Is he starting to use a spoon at mealtimes ...plan to put lots out in your water or heuristic play to help develop his physical skills in using one .... I have a 17 month old and planning for him is mainly about developing language just now - he like chickens ( has some at home) so we look at farm books , sing songs , etc he also needs to build his confidence in noisier environments so we are gradually introducing this through use of toddler group etc. It changes constantly as they pick up new things or seem to enjoy a particular activity more. sorry if im waffling now .. hope some of that helped anyway. if anyone is planning to buy the books from Amazon, you could do it via the Forum shop and help raise a few pennies towards running the site.

I will get Graham to add them.

a good communication skill to learn is mime and animal noises

I had a late talker but he could impersonate 30 different animals
(ie arm swinging for elephant, panting with tongue for dog, hands as ears for rabbit...............we made lots up hopping frogs, slithering snakes youngsters
love all this and you can put music on,
also (mine like to dress up in the princess dresses and the boys....they love dancing to music and I say ....you have to do it too..... be a fairy, be a train, be a plane, be a cat, be a snake, etc)

hope that helps for you CD and CLL

ps I don't really plan and I just do it when the mood seems right, like today everything will be about snow, we have made a snowman, will sing the songs
and make a snowy day picture, may do some science and melt the snow,
may play some slow music and melt like as snowman ourselves.

If one little thing you see can be in a book, you hear on the radio, the news,
the child may bring a toy rabbit say just run with the idea its amzing what you
will think of !

Got to go as we have go to go and feed reindeer on apple tree farm apparently says my 3 year old mindee !!!!

have fun

I have two under two and I don't plan as such. I plan activities based around what I have observed and what parents tell me.
The little girl I have likes rainbows so we have been doing activities based around that.

I tried to plan and never did any of it because they were too young to understand, so just observe them, find out what they enjoy and build on it xxx
