assistant and numbers of children

For those of you that have an assistant (as an assistant rather than another childminder you work with from the same address) can you please tell me how many children under 5 you are allowed to childmind?

I have asked Ofsted but the bloke couldnt seem to give me a straight answer :rolleyes:

Potentially they are allowed 3 EY and 3 LY but if they have any children they are taken into account and your numbers will be reduced. It also depends on the space you have for minding. They ask on forms for room sizes and stuff.
I registered an assistant and they gave me 6 EY and 6 LY when working together including my own children, no visit involved.

When I enquired I was told it goes on the size of the rooms/space you have
so it depends on who you talk to I think

You do need to be careful, because OFSTED will make no guarantees to allow you any extra children when working with an assistant.
