Hi all, doesn anyone have any wonderful dance ideas for a 2 year old who is really beginning to respond and move to music? I don't really know where to begin as dance is not a strong point for me! x:blush:

Put on different kinds of music on You Tube... just follow links and bop around together.

He might also enjoy making music with instruments and dancing to the music he makes.

You've got to let your worries and embarrassment go and act daft ... children love it and copy :D

the biggest laughs i get from my 17 month old is when we spotaneously dance to anything
he giggles so much that ends up with us all giggling and dancing
just go for it he won't care if your moves aren't out of the ballroom

Thanks! I'm a music specialist (ex teacher) so the music side of things comes really easily, I need to really let go with the dancing! You tube is a great idea, thanks. x

we quite often find ourselfs breaking into a song or dance, whether its at home or in the car!

The kids love it when i make up silly songs about them and my 2 year old has a dance move which has us rolling around laughing! she shouts wiggle your bum! and sticks her bum out and wiggles it with her arms like chicken wings and then moving as fast as she can from left to right!

I am hopeless at dancing and thats why i love dancing with kids because they dont laugh at you only with you:laughing:

You should see us. My daughter is 18 months and loves any music. We went to my mums house yesterday, Mickey Mouse was going off with the hot dog song, mummy, daddy, nan, grandad and aunty Kirst were all dancing and jumping around the living room, and we had such a laugh.

Let yourself go, who cares?

We have a tape called 'sticky kids' which my Mum gave to me as she use to use it at her Nursery! Its like warm up songs etc and the kids, especially my DD, love it, it has songs such as "if your happy and you know it" "wind your bobbin up", "I get out of bed in the morning" etc.

To be honest we can dance to just singing a random song, at the mo, DD likes me to make up words to songs such as "santa claus is coming too town" and we dance around to that!!

there's always boogie beebies. Seriously though, some cheerleader pom-poms are great and any instruments they can shake whilst they move. Also, fairy/ballet dresses, and shoes. I have a really old children's classical music tape (yes, tape - it's that old) but it's lovely, sugar plum fairy, the "horsey song" which is the one from the lone ranger, the can, can and we do 'ballet' to it. I haven't got a clue but we twirl, reach and point our hands and toes and do jumps.

The girls (2) followed me one day, like I knew what I was doing, now they make up their own dances for me!

if you can get hold of any tumble tots dvds they have lots of movement and dance on them.
Get (or make) some streamer ribbons - bit of bamboo (blu tak the ends) and attach a long ribbon for lots of big arm movements
