Just reading the thread about janet and her ofsted inspection took from 1.30 until 7.45 but she did get outstanding

So is this a record? And do inspections that result in the outstanding grade take longer?

WOW I haven't read that thread yet but maybe it was a slow day for ofsted that day:rolleyes: Mine only took two hours but I know someone else who had the 'pleasure' of their company for most of the day.

I'm in the same position as you Susan, got call quite a few weeks ago and my development officer reckons it will be before end of March. We're in March now!!!!! Aaaaaaaagh!

I'm just going to shove loads of paperwork under their nose in the lounge and go and do arts and crafts in the dining room and play outside (once I've removed the ivy!). He he! Do you think that will work?

i must have done something right (first time ever) as she was with me under an hour.

but she had already told me that when i went to do nursery pick up that she was going to do another inspection
and
she was the same inspector who had done loads of visits when i had the awful complaints made against me so she knew me the setting and the children.
she did ask me if i wanted her to come back after nursery, but i politely declined her very kind offer

and cheered when she left

Errr well when she asked me what grading i thought i was (cos I didn't fill in a form) i said i was somewhere between good and outstanding but had heard if you wanted outstanding then the inspection had to be about 5hours but i didn't want her here for that long so if she could do outstanding in 2 - 21/2 hours fine otherwise don't bother and I'll just be good.

She didn't say anything so I thought I'd shot myself in the foot but she did it in just under 3hours

Well I am hoping that from what she said on the phone my inspector will arrive at 9.30 and leave by 12. I told her that I have to leave for nursery at 12.15 and get back about 1. She said ok I will get to you by 9.30 then to give us time. I am going to ask A's mum if she minds sending him with a packed lunch to take the pressure off me trying to get him to eat his lunch in time to leave because these days I have to give it at 11.15 to give him an hour to get something down.

I thought they were norally about 2 hours - I know mine was. It can take around 5 hours for inspections in general if they are accreddited childminders - is Janet accreddited by any chance or was she just unlucky (but with an outstanding well done to you)

My inspection was 3 hours long. It got off to a spectacular start with a child being sick all over the kitchen floor, not once not twice but three times!! The Inspector said well at least she could see my sick child policy working ...! After that, I was past caring what happened!

I also got lots of notice - she phoned up early December and made a rough appointment for the second week of February, so I had weeks and weeks to worry about it.

Mine lasted from 9.30 to 11.30. As soon as one of the children had done a dirty nappy she seemed to have filled all her boxes!!

Mine was about 3 1/2 hours in total but the last half hour was spent selling myself and telling her why I thought I was Outstanding and providing examples to back up what I was saying.

Hi,

I had my ofsted inspection today, inspector arrived at 10am and left about 12.10. It seemed to go really quick, only had one child here as other was off sick, that went down well as she could see I was sticking to my policies. I had everything ready on the kitchen table for her to go through, she asked a few question and that was it.

I've not heard anything from anyone yet and I was registered in Sept. 07. I do wonder how long they will take as by time they get round to me, I will be in employment during the day, will pick up my 2 kids then the 2 mindees from school, come home and do dinner for which we all sit down at 5pm for them to go home at about 5.45pm. I know I won't get outstanding and I'd be surprised if I would get a good as I don't get the quality time with the children (mind you, one is 9 and one is a full time schooler at 4 years old). Oh well, will wait and see.
