I bought a fab camera reduced from 199 to 99 about 2 years ago...i reg'd in feb this year and have used my camera a lot...it is now gone to camera heaven....so am needing to buy a new one as my phone is nto good enough...can I split the cost [even though I tend to use it more for work than personal} and claim for half?

is that ok?

I claimed the whole cost of my camera as I use it every day and that was fine with my accountant.

Me too, there should be no problem claiming all of the costs.

Just one tip, if you find you have more outgoings than are necessary to ensure you do not have to pay any tax then you can carry some of your capital expenditure forward against the following year. Expensive individual items like computers, cameras etc are perfect for this kind split tax claim.

David

I am about to buy a new camera and I will be putting the cost through my books too.

I use it all the time for work so I think it's reasonable.
