Does there always have to be a member of staff in the room with a sleeping baby?

or is it okay to leave a baby sleeping if you are not in the room (but in hearing distance and checking every few minutes?)

- talking about a place which is ofsted registered

We never had to stay in the room but had to record we had checked them every 15 mins (may have been 10).

I have worked in nurserys that do it both ways, one had a member of staff in, the other didnt, they did checks but it was all windows also so children could always be seen anyway.

I Think its fine so long as they are regularly checked - due to child : staff ratios it may not always be possible to devote 1 member of staff to sit in a room on their own with a sleeping child.

If a child is unwell it may be advisable to put a child into a side room to isolate them from the other children - but due care must be taken to ensure the safety of the all children.
