My little sister is also pregnant an due few weeks before me.

Her partner was made redundant not so long ago and is having to retrain as no similar jobs they live on Isle of Wight.

Today she has just found out that she could be made redundant and is worried that her work will work out a way of doing it so its not based on her being pregnant..

She is really worried....

If she's worried maybe suggest she gets in touch with CAB?

Was she planning on going back after baby? If not it might work out to her favour with a decent redundancy package? This is what happened with a friend of mine when we were all made redundant in january.

My friend was made redundant 4 weeks before going on mat leave. She did have a few probs to start with barretts told her to get mat leave of goverment. goverment said barretts as they still have some shops. In the end she got it from the goverment and back dated.

Her partner is doin a 7mth course with a view that there is 75% chance of gettin a job at end of it, in his favour he is doin the course at the place the jobs wil b created so hopefully he wil defo get a job.

My sister is 19wks pregnant so not entitled 2 maternity pay yet... an i think she has only been at this job 2/3 years.

Any1 been in a similar situation.

Afta talkin to my sister this week we think her employer is tryin to get out of payin her maternity pay.

She is 20wks pregnant this week and they are saying that r last day will be 27th November 2009 and they will give her 6wks pay in addition to any redundantcy instead of working any notice period, meaning she is not entitled to maternity pay as she will not be into 15th week before baby due. She is sayin to them that as they are payin her 6wks pay surely her final date of employment is in 6wks time therefore puttin her in the 15th week before baby due and entitled to maternity.

Hope this makes sense and sum1 can help xx :panic:
