wow you have done well :) I've been working since Dec last year and had a huge deficit when I submitted in April this year, my Brother-in-law did it for me and was so sorry for me  I just told him it was to be expected.

How about a nice bottle of wine or bar of chocolate :)

No, its just your outgoings not your wage. At the end of the year you are allowed to earn just over £5,000 which isnt taxed.

Being self employed you dont really get a 'wage'. Just all the profit is yours to keep!

I'd have expected you to make a loss too on your first month if you've included all your start-up costs.

Hope Debbie's sorted it out for you

You need to find a system to put all in receipts in one place.

I have an A5 diary and each day i write in where I have been and what I have spent, including receipts. This allows you the freedom to do your accounts months later if you want to and you will have all expenses and mileage to hand.

I put all my start up costs through for August as thats when I bought the majority of it so because i had earned no income in August the loss was quite large!

I have an envelope for each month of the year and I put my receipts in those then at least they're all in one place.

It does get easier.............................
