Hi everyone,

Does anyone charge a daily rate
eg £25.00 Full Day
£100.00 Full week

I am really confused on what to charge. I have researched and in my area the rate all seems to be 3.50 at lowest & 4.00 being the highest.

Also if you have a baby should you charge a lower rate as they will not be eating cooked meals?

If i charged the parents of a baby £4 per hour and they done a full day it would work out £720 a month and that seems an awful lot.

Im really confused, any advice would be greatly appreciated x

I personally charge an hourly rate.

Also I would not charge babies at a lower rate as they are much harder work to look after and trust me they will be eating your food etc in no time at all.

Yes it does seem like a lot of money to pay but the parents are usually aware of this.....some even have government assistance with childcare costs anyway.

You really need to work out what would be the best for you and obviously you need to look at what goes on in your area.

Have a look at your local CIS and see what other minders are charging ....or if you have contacts with other minders see what they are currently doing................it differs from area to area

Thanks Dee

I feel more clear now. I have looked at he cis website and most childminders seem to be charging at £4.00 per hour.

This is all so daunting at the moment but hopefully all will fall into place x

I charge a daily rate of £30 otherwise if I went by my hourly rate a 10 hour day would be £37.00 and I wanted to stay in line with nursery's local to me.

Alot of childminders in my area do daily rates too.

I should add that talking to others minders on the EYFS course last weekend some charge as little as £18.00 per day.

Sorry but I wouldn't get out of bed for that!!

I offer either an hourly or daily rate for some children - often they come a bit early or leave a bit early so it evens out in the end and it's easier for the accounting!

Your business though and whatever rules you want to decide :D

I just charge an hourly rate as that is what most childminders do around here. But it is up to you do what is best.

I used to charge a daily rate but now charge by the hour. I also charge under 1's 50p per hour more because they are more hard work.

I charge by the hour for under 5's and a set amount for before and after school children.

I charge £3.50 per hour, no matter what. So it works out at £35 for a 10 hour day but the nurseries round here are about £50 per day. I also charge extra per meal.
