Just had social services phone asking me to provide cover for a child for 4 hours. I told them £3.20 per hour but now think I could of charged more. But to late to go back to them. Has anyone else done work for SS did you just get them to complete a normal contract?

Sorry Twigs but the answer to your question is very,

When i have done work for SS it has been double. If they phone back say that was the rate for a full time placement 40hr per week. Any thing less is £5.00.

Because i doubt if they will want a 40 hour week.

surely thats not fair, just because it ss you put your price up:panic:

Inclusive practise I think this falls under:thumbsup:

When I worked for Care to learn you couldn't up your prices so why for ss

I think its because the SS work is usually emergency care, sometimes with just a days notice.

I charge more for over time without fair notice to my parents so the same applies to SS. So I am not doing anything I wouldnt do for anybody else so I am not discrimminating.

When i worked for them THEY told me the rate i didn't get the chance to offer my rate - it was higher than normal -£4.50 per hour as i recall.

Never worked for them, but I would charge my Occassional Hours fee (£5.50 per hour)
