Your 18 month old will be counted in your numbers and ofsted will have taken account of this when they registered you but the number of children shown on your certificate does not include your own children

So in a way you are both right iyswim

hi yes they are to be included in your numbers but they will not be included on your certificate, ofsted will have already allowed for them eg mine says i can look after 5, no more than 3 under 5s and 2 between the ages of 5 and 8 because my youngest is 7, hence i cannot have 6 in total only 5 but now she is 8 so i could get them to change it to 6 but i am not going to bother.

dont know if that is any clearer?

Hi,
My certificate says that I may care for no more than 5 children under 8 of these not more than 2 may be under 5 and of these not more than 1 may be under 1 year at anyone time.
I have a 5 year old myself who is at school,so this is very confusing I take it as being
1 under one year
1 under five years
3 over five years
surely this is wrong
Can some one help me work this out
When my certificate was issued my son was 3 is it something to do with this.

Some one with waaaaaaaaay more knowledge than me will be along in a mo but I think that now your son is in school you need to let Ofsted know and they will change your certificate.

Your son has now moved into your 5-8 bracket.

My DD starts school in Sept and turns 5 in Sept so will be letting Ofsted know ;)

I agree with mandy - you won't be able to have more children overall but you could now mind 3 under 5 of whom no more than 1 could be under 1 (because your son has moved out of this age bracket) and only 2 children between the ages of 5 - 8 (because he's moved into this age bracket)

you need to contact Ofsted for a new certificate

My daughter just turned 8 in January, so I have changed my certificate for 5 under eights to 6 under eights.
