First Aid Course

Hi, I'm going to do my first aid course in November - and I was wondering does this have an exam at the end?

No they dont usually have an exam at the end.

You go through the course in stages and have to show that you have listened by practising bandaging and resus. At the end of my last course we had to show our instructor the resus method so that he knew that we understood it.

At the end of the course you will either be given your certificate or they will send it to you.

i`ve done 3 now 4th coming up i`ve never done an exam you just have to show you understand, practise certain things and thats it

Mine had an exam!

I got myself soooo nervous worrying about breaths to compressions... then that question didn't come up :rolleyes: :D

No exam here but we did have to prove that we had understood resus and practise in front of class. We also had a workbook to complete throughout which she kept going over to make sure we all had understood and had the correct answers. I did mine back in June and she did say that you should try to refresh your memory every 3 months or so it looks like I might have some bedtime reading this weekend. :D

I really enjoyed the course we had people from all different backgrounds, teachers, classroom assistants, childminders, youth workers and a scout group leader. It was a fun way to learn a very important topic enjoy.:)#

I did a twelve week Red Cross one a few years ago and that had an exam at the end of it.

I've done several two day courses now and not had an exam - or at least not a formal one , maybe a questions and answers session at the end.

Thankfully I've never had an exam but I think it depends on who runs the course.

I didnt have an exam at the end of mine it was continuous learning. maybe you should enquire.

I did a course in June and we had a multiple choice exam at the end, it was easy though, nothing to worry about :)

I just started mine last night with St. Johns Ambulance and we were told that there would be no exam, they would assess us as we go along.

I did a course over a period of two Saturdays an had to sit an exam - it wasn't multi choice though. Apparently the system changed in March 09. Don't worry though, I got 97%, if I can get that kind of a score (with a hangover), anyone can!!:laughing: :laughing:
