Childminders can usually have up to 6 children under 8.

Because you have a 3 and 7 year old of your own, your certificate says you can have 4...

4 mindees plus 2 of your own children equals 6! :D

It should say on the certificate that the numbers are in the early years and the certificate will have already taken into account your own children so you are within numbers infact have 1 space spare. I also have read too many threads and must have read my own certificate 10 times this week.lol

thankyou, i thought that was it but needed to check! lol.
so am i right in thinking i can have as many over 8's as i feel i can cope with as long as it doesnt effect the care of the younger ones? it is VERY confusing :D

Yes... but only to the amount your insurance says you can have!

With Morton Michel it's 10 children total minded in the house :D

Something else to think about but just wondering if your certificate was issued before your own 8 year old was 8. If so you may be able to get it changed so you can have 5 under 8 mindees now
