i round up to the nearest half hour usually unless it's only an hour. i.e. I have a baby from 0730 to 1600 and charge 8.5 hours but her brothers I collect from school at 3.15 and only have until 4pm and I charge for a full hour.

I have just introduced half hourly fees, as I was charging by the quarter!

Not that it has sunk in for one of my parent though! She returned her renewed contract last week all signed etc (at last). On this it clearly states that before 8am and after 6pm I charge 5.00 per hour payable by the half hour (ie 2.50 for half hour) which is more than fair I think!

So anyway she asks if she can drop off A at 7.15am on Thu morning, so I said, yes, no problem. Then she rings at ten to six to say she is running late and won't get to me til 6.15pm. So:

7am - 8am = 5.00
8am-8.45am = 3.70 hourly fee
3.15- 6pm =8.00 after school session
6pm-6.30 =2.50

totals at 19.20.

She almost fainted when I told her it was that!!!! Don't they read their contracts before signing??????? And I did give her two months to sit down with me and go through the contract together before giving up and just giving her a copy to sign and give back!

Now I have to bring it up with her this week, but not sure how to say 'Didn't you bother to read your contract' without sounding rude...
