I wanted some of these but my gardener / handy man miss understood me and put down regular bark :( when I have to replace it I will be getting the rubber stuff - you can get different colours too.

I am thinking about this for next time I have mine done.

The tree bark is ok but it retains water and rots down which is a pain... I think the rubber will last longer.

another thing on my wish list  :D

They use it in the horse arena where my dd goes, so if it lastwith them blasting around i am sure kids wont where it out easily :)

I went to the garden centre and ordered about a ton of play bark which was £80 delivered. Now DS is spending tomorrow shovelling it down the garden!

I have been considering play bark for areas of my garden. Never heard of the rubber sort.
Does anyone have any info on the environmental affects/issues ?

We have this down as a 'topper' on top of sand in our riding arena. It may be cheaper to buy direct from an Equine Arena specialist. However, you must make sure that what you purchase is 100% rubber and not a rubber mix. A rubber mix will leave all skin, clothes and shoes that come into contact with it black! You wont get any black staining with 100% rubber chips.
