I just wondered how everyone was getting on?
Might be an idea to post a few details on here, so we can see who is in the same boat and give each other a bit of encouragement. I don't know about you but I am getting fed up of waiting now lol!:eek:

When i had my pre-reg visit mrs ofsted said that they have 12 weeks to do their bit which would mean I'd be registered by 29th Sept.

I'm just waiting for my crbs to come through - they are in the final stage but have been for the last 3 weeks. CRB people say they should be back from the police by the 16th.

I hope so. I'm looking after a friend's little boy as a favour whilst I'm waiting for my registration but have 2 other children waiting for me to be registered.

Hopefully it'll happen soon . . .

You are doing rather well! I had to wait almost 4 months for my course to start..and then we have had to wait until the end of our course for our reg packs. So been waiting 7 months so far and haven't even had reg pack yet :(

It seems I have been quite lucky in terms of timings *grin* my ICC (ICP) starts in less than 2 weeks!

I decided in March to become a childminder.
Started course in May.
Sent forms off in August and had Pre reg visit mid August. Am still waiting for CRB's to come back,although my OH arrived today.Not sure how much longer I will have to wait for mine and my step-son's, plus my own son has just turned 16 so now I have to send his off - not sure if this will delay me even more?
My stepson's CRB came back today - so waiting for mine - does anyone know if my registration will be delayed because my son has just turned 16 and I have to send forms off for him now? Doesn't seem fair to me if thats the case.:(

I have been lucky to had 2 mindees waiting when I was pre-reg and started 2 weeks after receiving my certificate. It was a bit of a rush though getting my insurance and NCMA membership sorted out. And my toolkit arrived last week which was a bonus, I have even got a website and Im up on the childcare information service website!:clapping:

Ofsted have written to me to tell me they havent received my health declaration form and will be unable to complete my registration without it, handed the form into my doctors on the 2nd sept, I had been told by the receptionist during a telephone conversation that it would cost me £25.00, but then the day after I handed it in I got a phonecall to say it was actually going to cost £82.00 and would take up to 8 weeks for them to complete and send to ofsted! What a pain in the bum. Will update progress if and when......

Am in a similar situation - have looked on crb website and they are completed , just waiting for them to reach ofsted etc. but my eldest turned 16 this week , so if they insist on putting his through before i register then it could be another 3 months! aaargh!

I am half way through my 1st aid now and have just 2 weeks left of my course...so slowly getting there!

Even though it has been a long wait, it has worked out for the best in some ways as we are moving into our own house this weekend, and I need to get it all ready before Ofsted visit-so good timing really!:)

Thanks hun, explained the situation to Ofsted and they are coming to see me on mon 28th sept for my pre-reg, so excited now, Doctors have agreed to lower the price to £60.00 due to the mix up but still cant tell me when the forms will be completed, when I told the receptionist there wasn`t that much for the doctor to do, as in she didn`t need to write an essay! I got told that im very lucky im getting it done at all as the doctor does not have to do this for me, they are busy enough and that I should be very thankfull!!!! The annoying thing is my doctor is lovely and if I made an appointment to see her she would do it there and then for me, but I dont want to take up an appointment space as im fit as a fiddle as usual, Oh well,Will keep you all informed xx

I've only got as far as a phone call to Cc (care commision) and was told they will send out the neccessary paperwork. I have not yet recieved this and it has been a week. I might hold on to my job a little longer judging from everyone elses progress.

The nice lady from Ofsted came today and said yes... just got to wait for police checks to come back now and have been told this takes 6-8 weeks and as soon as Ofsted receive them they will send my certificate... so the waiting begins (again), will update soon xxxxx

Would strongly advise you not to hand in your notice untill you are much much closer, the whole process has taken me almost a year and have now got to wait another 6-8 weeks, xx

Hi, I started my CM course back in April and have pushed really hard and have arranged my own courses to try and speed up the process. I had my Ofsted inspec. about 5 weeks ago and she was with me for about 3 hours! I had to put up a small garden fence and some other work and she gave me 4 weeks to complete. I'm a bit annoyed though because when I completed the work I sent an email to them over a week ago telling them that I had done all the necessary work. Today I received a letter from them saying that I need to complete the form and ring them why I am late in replying to them! But saying all that I know they have received my references, health declaration, Social Services and are now waiting for the crb checks which apparently are at stage 4 (which is the longest stage).

I don't know how to advertise or anything so I'm hoping my local authority will help me out or guide me in the right direction.

Just a quick thought - it does seem that people are being charged way over the odds for the health forms. At our briefing meeting we were told that it is our right to negotiate the price if we feel that the price is too high. Also some practices may say that they cannot move the price as it is set by the medical board, which is not true.

Yes, I was charged £82 at my Doctors. One of the other ladies on my course only £25..perhaps it is an idea to try and debate the amount, but for most doctors there is a set amount.

My Doctor's were meant to send the forms straight back to Ofsted (Ofsted do request this) but they have called me asking me to collect them. I am ok with this, at least I will know they are posted and when etc!

Ofsted have written to me to tell me they haven't received my health declaration form and will be unable to complete my registration without it, handed the form into my doctors on the 2nd sept, I had been told by the receptionist during a telephone conversation that it would cost me £25.00, but then the day after I handed it in I got a phone call to say it was actually going to cost £82.00 and would take up to 8 weeks for them to complete and send to ofsted! What a pain in the bum. Will update progress if and when......

Yippee just a quick update: My certificate arrived today (finally).. Oh it seems to have taken so long but I'm just so pleased that its finally here.. Good luck to everyone in the process of registration and don't be disheartened by the length of time it takes, its all worth it...:clapping: xx

Hi I am in the process of making my house a safezone and completing my policies etc before i send my pack off.
