Im gonna break this down as simple as i can... need advice...

Very nice parents who speak very little english, attend college and i have child during term times. Fees are paid by Care to Learn. At end of last term summer retainer fees needed to be sorted and sent off by parents. I made this very clear and also called the colledge to insure that they assisted. 6 weeks into the school hols, forms had still not been recieved by care to learn so i wrote parents a letter explaining that because of this i had not been paid, and would therefpre need the owing amount if they wished for me to have child again in september. I heard nothing, thought that was the end of it as this has occured once before. However today father rung me. said has been out of country for hols, just read letter doesnt understand as he says forms were sent. Really wants placement and need it to start again next week.

I explained again that i had not been paid, and told him that i would call care to learn again tomorrow to double check if they have recieved them ( but i am sure that they have not), and tthen i will call him tomorrow and let him know how things stand....

What do i do? If i accept child back with no payment, im workin ng against all of my rules.
I do believe in my heart that they may not have sent them as they are not the most reliable. However i cannot prove this.
Apart from the lack of reliability they are very nice people. Urrrrrg!!

I hate this part of the job!!! :(

Advice anyone???

This is hard.....i guess i would get parents to pay you if they want the place then if funding comes through you could then give it back.If they are desperate for place they will pay and to be honest their funding issues isn't your problem,BUT being paid is and this needs to be made clear.I think you said they are a nice family so i would maybe give them another chance.Call them and arrange to talk to them and print off what you are owed etc and say unless you pay this then you will have to find someone else.I definately wouldn't carry on without this money cus this could go on for weeks.cx

I didn't think that colleges paid retainers.

I would mind and talk to the parents.

sorry shouldve made it claerer. It is paid for by care to learn. They fund fees for teen parents, and always pay holidays as a full time space is taken up for the child. :)

last year I had a contract under care to learn and I was told I couldn't chare during the summer hols

I also got the parent to get the college to fill the forms in THEN give them to me so I was the last person to sign them, and I sent them Special delivery! My payment was a good 3 weeks late as I only started in The sept, but after that the payment was in advance:thumbsup:

the C2L people on the phone were lovely any time I had to phone them:)

find out the college and call them direct. You will at least get someone who can tell you the story. Phone the student advice/customer care dept.

Yes i have been dealing with care to learn for 3 years. I am a member of a quality assured network that specialises in working with young teen age parents. They are lovely people and very helpful. I would question waht you were told about summer hols. You need to fill in a specific summer retainer form, and you are entitled. :)

I've just started with a a student who is on the care to learn. I got the payments paid into my account 3 weeks ago as they pay in advance. I also received a letter showing all the dates when payment will be made into my account and as it is a 2 year course I will get paid for next years summer holidays. You get paid half the weekly payments during all the holidays.
The student is only 16 so fingers crossed that she keeps attending the course.

when i got stuff through from college it stated that they were not responsible for retainers deposits and thing like that parents were responsible for this.
