Do you mean the units you can choose?

I don't know if they're still the same as when I did mine but I did 306, 307, 308 and 316 - the last one is all about your business, can't remember what the other 3 covered without looking at my file. They all x-ref in part to the mandatory units

I was advised to do the following as they are mostly linked to EYFS and Childminders :D

306 - plan and organise environments for children and families

307 - promote the health and physical development of children

316 - maintain and develop a childminding business

320 - care for children at home

It doesn't matter - once you have completed NVQ you are qualified - regardless of which units you completed and I have yet to meet someone where they were asked about this at interview.

The whole point of an NVQ is that it is gaining a recognised qualification at what you do...hence choosing units you can easily show evidence for. Some of them will be impossible to complete if they do not reflect the practice in your setting.

i was advised to not just go for the units relevant to childminding if i want to progress (work in a school etc)

as i may be asked to do extra units.

think i'll ask at the school tonight

Really! My original assessor never asked me which ones i wanted to do or even really told me anything about them. She just came out and asked me a question, which i then talk about and its recorded on a dictaphone. Will check which unit's i am doing though and will let you know. x

have decided to do 5 optional units instead of just 4 (and the extra unit is also fully funded :clapping: )

plan and implement curriculum framework for early years
promote children's well-being and resilience
support children with disabilities or SEN
help children to develop their literacy skills
help children develop their numeracy skills

:D

 i think the course organiser thinks so too, he said they've NEVER had anyone ask to do an extra unit
