Hi Guys,

Just wondered if anyone charges more than their hourly rate for under 3 hrs.
Or would most of you not bother taking this on anyway.

I probably wouldnt do it. I wont take anyone on for less than 8 hours so they could come for 3 but have to pay for 8

I have a minimum of 8 hours per week too.

A friend of my who does short term/one off/emergency/odd hours etc (cm'g only) charges about £5.50 per hour for situations like this.

I would take it on if it fitted with everything else and probably charge £1 above my normal rate.

I have a minimum of 6 hours a week.

I think it will be really hard work come September with EYFS if you only have the child for 3 hours a week.

Depends what it was - I'm a bit like Twinkle I'd do it if it fitted in and charge extra per hour

I have a 3 year old before and after school 2 days a week so 4 hours in total. I am only doing it because I have his brother full time on those days so financially it is worth my while. I wouldn't have him if it was just the 4 hours.

I mind a little girl after school for 2 hours on a monday and 2 hours on a wednesday i charge 7 pounds per session ie 14 pounds i think its worth it she is 7 now i have had her since she was 9 months.
When she was young i used to have her 2 full days so i suppose that is a bit different

I am glad I saw this, I have had a call today for a school drop of and it is only before school as he goes to after school club, I dont want to shoot myself in the foot by not taking him on as anything is a blessing right now but on the other hand its only about 2 hours max a day, would you bother doing it and if so would you charge normal rate - sorry to take over the origional post :I was thinking of say that I will have to charge a minimum as he is taking up the space of a child who could be about 4 hours a day????

I would charge £4.00 or £4.50 per hour but i would charge an extra hour to drop him at school. Round this area we charge an extra hour to drop or collect from school. I also have a minimum of £10.00 for after school care.:)

hello i charge school aged children £5.oo for first hour then my normally hourly rate £3.00 an hr there after this works out quite worthwhile and parents have all thought was reasonable because of it being short hours
