It is class one with everyone except Motor minder.
I was with them for one year and left in disgust. They made a right mess of the paperwork, charged me an additional £45 to insure I had a comparible hire car-I only have a Skoda Octavia not a seven seater but they said on their standard insurance I could get a fiesta

dh lasted 2 years but has just renewed cheaper with Churchill ( I'm back with them £120 cheaper than MM renwal quote) Paperwork for him was shocking-they seemed to be incapable of getting the Statement of Fact 100% correct.

I am in the process of complaining to NCMA because I don't understand how this 'Broker' is allowed to advertise in NCMA publications as a Specialist Childminding Insurance Provider.

I thought a broker was supposed to research the market for the best deal for you, they charge you £22.50 and only use Norwich Union (now Aviva) and have only offered them as a company for a number of years-how does that work.?

Sorry rant over.

Thanks for that everybody - I suppose NCMA recommend them and they get some kind of cut - will carry on searching for a decent quote - all mine are nearly £300 for a s reg fiesta and I'm no whippersnapper (38) and hubby is 43.

Thanks again, this site is really invaluable.

I think the only cut is that they must pay a hefty amount in adverising fees the amount they advertise in Who Minds. I will be persuing this because I feel it is an unhealthy relationship all round. This Who Minds they have 2.5 pages of adverts

Ricky,

Many brokers offer what are called Schemes.

These are specialist products for various industries. My husband used to work for a broker and offer a scheme for plumbers.
They do not search the market as they would do for other products, but include you in the scheme, which, in theory, should be a good deal as they have in effect negotiated everyone in that profession a good discount.

However, after talking to them my husband also agrees that they suggest class 3 and we only need class 1. He thinks they dont know what they are talking about!

How I agree with that. :clapping:

Sorry how rude of me I go interupted and posted the message without saying thank you for the info that was interesting. It must work I guess the Farmers Union is an example. It does amuse me though that there is no mention of Childminders in any of their documentation but they do mention members of The Guild of Beauty Therapists who are insured for £500 of work related goods in the car. They won't cover more than £200 for cms and my buggies are worth more than that?

I was with motor minder but left them at the curb in Feb and went through the post office to get my insurance. Because the postoffice put an offer in my paperwork (that I was not eligable for but the paperwork did not say that) I am getting £50 cash back from them this week that means my insurance will be way under £150 for the year (ok it is only an 03 corsa) I was chuffed.
