Average price for newly built playroom

Hi guys
If you have had a playroom built recently can you tell me what it consists of and how much, thinking about getting this but don't know what sort of price i'm looking at, also did you just get a loan for it or what?

we had our garage converted into playroom and it cost around £9,000 which including planning costs etc...go with local builder rather than companies that specialise in this as they were double the price.....my neighbours conservatory has just cost about £7000 for average size.Guess depends on area you live we are in south so probably more expensive.cx

We just had a quote for a conservatory (5x4m2) which is going to cost us just over £10k. Still not sure if we can get the finance yet as mine and DH credit history isn't great. You get get cheaper conservatories in Argos and places like that for a lot cheaper, but then they use cheaper materials. I have been looking around for playroom furniture in Ikea (I like the Trofast units) and all of this adds up for about £500. Have also been looking in the Early Years Resources catalogue and spent about £1 million in my head!!

I don't think a playroom is going to be cheap for us. I guess it depends on where you live and what sort you want (room conversion, extension, conservatory, etc).

We are tring for a baby atm so really need the extra room. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get the finance. It will be a dream come true!

I didn't build an extension/playroom - but we did build a 6m x 3m covered deck which runs the entire length of the back of the house. It is a temp structure as the roof is perspex, but the children play on the deck pretty much all the time we are home based. All the toys are out there in storage boxes, there is a play kitchen and there is seating. There is a gate on the deck which can keep children contained on the deck, or opened up so children can access the garden play equip, it cost us less than £1000 and because its open air its not as hot as a conservatory.

I plan to continue using it in the winter with children wearing extra layers, I have shower curtains running around which keeps out the rain. Next year we plan to add concertina doors around the outside with perspex it to give it some more sophisticated weather proofing.

Its a cheaper option if you cannot afford a permanent extension to the house.

we are currently going through a self build and having an annex attached to the side for my childminding this is costing us £35,000 but i have to say it is quite large and has full length doors at one end

We had a quote for a 3m x 3m conservatory for £11,500 or £8,600 if we signed up on the day the quote was given. Needless to say we didn't sign up for it.

Our 2 story extension cost £20,000 thats for a playroom and utility room with a toilet then a bedroom and un suite up stairs. That included the architect, planning fees, plumber, electrician, carpets and all materials. No labor though as my dad built it:) We used our savings for the big payments at the begining then as it took a year we saved each month and used this to pay the bills as they came in.

I love the idea of the covered decking!

We had a conservatory built I don't know the size but it's the full width of the house so quite large!

It was around £11k I think, a friend has had her garage converted and that cost her around £8-9k but she had her downstairs toilet moved.

WE had a conservatory built three years ago. It is 5m x 5m and although a great space which we had gone for a bit more money and had a proper extension built.

i would say if you can afford it have an extension not a conservatory

We had a garage conversion. It cost nothing for planning, although we had to tell the planning department of our plans for approval. The cost was around £2500, so quite reasonable I think, that was including a large floor to ceiling cupboard, which was built in, that I use to store the toys.
