I might be having a friends grand daughter and she will only be 8 weeks old when she comes. Mum is 16 and going back to college.

I just wondered how young is the youngest you have looked after?

I looked after a four week old baby girl as short notice while parents attended a funeral and 18 month old sister. was only for about 5 hours though and she slept through most of it!

I didn't realise about the insurance either!!!:panic:

I had a little boy at 6 weeks, 2 days per week, he is now 2! I also had both his big sisters although not until eldest was 3 and youngest 18 months as they moved into our road then! They are now nearly 13 and youngest is 11 today!!!!!! Have to say he was an absolute dream thank goodness!!!!!:D

Most come to me from about 5 - 6 months!!!

Think I had better check mine too!!

But what else can the mum do though if nowhere can have the baby til 3 months? That would mean her waiting until next year to go back to college and that will be harder after a year away from studying.

7 weeks old, 2 days a week and he is now 4 months old. Must say it is a bit of a shock to the system having a little baby again especially when they aren't settled into a routine yet. But it is also a lot of fun and great seeing them change day by day and growing in personality.

3 months full time. That was my first mindee. Back in those days the maternity leave was a lot less and mums were only paid for 6 weeks after the birth. They could take 23 weeks more but it was unpaid. It wasn't uncommon for babies to come into care at 6 weeks then. (early 1990s)

I was explaining to my husband the other day that babies dont come along that much nowadays because of the extended maternity leave mums (and paternity for dads) can take.

3 mths,,, But im on the TEEN-Parent Network and the Law say's all children under 16 must finish school so... for a lot of teenagers this means a month or so at a special school for new mums and then they have to find a nursery or cm and finish school. some cm's have had babies as young as 4wks old because of this Law and i just feel sorry for the teenagers x

8 weeks was the youngets I had last time. It was brilliant she just slippe straight in with our routines etc, I got all the good stuff of a tiny baby and then got to sleep at night too! I had her until she was almost 2 and she was great. I also had her 8yo sister who was a sweetie.
