What do I do?

7 days ago I thought my business was going to halve and now I have too much.

It has gone mad and I thought the recession would hit hard.

wow pass some this way, ive had a space for ages but not 1 enquiry:(

How about you interview them all then you decide who you will offer the place to or get them to state what hourly rate they are willing to pay and the highest wins:clapping:

Great position to be in :) :clapping:

I guess I would see who want exactly what hours, start dates, if there are any nursery/playgroup runs and who would fit in best with your other children and commitments - then interview and take it from there....

1 full timer gave notice last week and came back today and asked for 2 days and then again tonight for 2.5 days so that is that one gone. I am going for a set of twins 18 hours per week over the Wed/Thurs/Fri which will fit in with all of the other 3's shifts (won't know if I am coming or going) and then another lady wants and <8 space but the hours are early at 5.45 and then after school until 10.15 which son is going to take little one home and babysit.

All confusing. I have spent 4 hours working on a grid with it all for two weeks and I have given up for the night now and will tackle the hols tomorrow.

Phew - I have never been in demand this much in 15 years.

Keep going ladies who are quiet, it will come.

I only had one full timer last week and had no enquiries for months.

I had 4 this week!! I have taken on 2 and passed the other 2 (siblings) to a friend who had just lost her full timer.

I used to read about other people being full or turning people away and used to think Why are then none around here?

But then had 4 this week alone!!! So it can happen!!!

What a great position to be in. It's lovely to be able to choose the people that fit in with your timing for a change.

Like the idea of selling to the highest bidder though:D

I'm moving to where you live Deb  I'm glad it's going so well for you.

Right I'm off to do some advertising, had no calls for a few months now :panic:

I think the recession can actually help increase demand for childcare. Parents who are offered a new job or extra hours are jumping at the chance - not knowing when the next offer will come along. I've had two part timers increase their hours and loads of enquiries (though many for wierd and wondeful shift patterns which I think anyone would struggle to cover!) I've also had to resort to drawing up a grid and trying to get the best fit of children to spaces, and I'm also in the process of getting a friend registerd as my assistant for Wednesdays.

On the negative side, I am losing older ones to the new after school club which is charging seven pounds fifty for three hours. But then I think I'd rather have the little ones anyway.

Anyway, well done Debbie and it just shows how quickly things can turn around.

WOW! You are so lucky! I live about 40 mins away and am virtually empty and can't get any work for no love nor money! It is dead in the water here!
