one of my mindees have been invited to another mindees birthday party, their parents have never met but the children obviously talk about each other at home. Today invited mindees mum asked me for the phone number of inviting mindee as she had lost the invite but wanted to contact the mum so she could say yes her lo could go. I felt awful having to say that i couldn't give out the number because of confidentiality and i think mum thought i was being a bit OTT. of course i offered to relay the message but she was a little put out and said that she wouldn't mind her number being given out if it was the other way round. Did i do the right thing?

oh yes!!!!
you could always say to her that if she doesnt mind, you can give HER number to the parent cos then you would have HER permission!:D

I would have done the same thing, either offered to pass on a message or theh phone number of the one that asked you.

Shouldn't really be a problem but you did the right thing.

My leavers today have made good friends. I asked first one if I could give her number to other mum when she came to collect. Will leave it to second mum to ring her and pass her number.

Gosh I didn't think about this, my parents have all met each other, but one had a birthday party and mum asked me for addresses to post invites and I gave them:blush:  They all went to the party and no-one said anything but I didn't think of it as a confidentiality issue.

I was in exactly your position and did exactly the same as you - checked first before I shared their telephone number. I think my parents were reassured though - they certainly weren't put out, so I'm sorry yours feel this way - but you did the right thing.
