I'll have my nephew for 6 days over the holidays while his Mum does jury service. He goes to nursery one day a week. He's 6 months. I will not be doing any obs on him. So there!

I feel slightly rebellious

 Oh no - that's a bit too much :panic:
However, I have discovered my fees are bigger for a short term contract :D

hi guys

i look after my nephew on a pt basis and have been told by my local cm rep that because he is a member of my family i dont have to carry out EYFS with him. I have 8 other children on my books and my sister really isnt fussed so it would be lovely if i didnt have to do such as detailed eyfs obs, planning for him.

can anyone confirm this?

Tania

My understanding is that if you look after any child within the Eyfs then you must follow the Eyfs.... that means observations, assessments and planning as part and parcel of the whole package.

Obviously if the child is part time, then you adapt your paperwork to suit.

Venus89 is talking about having a child for a few days while his mum does jury service ... that's slightly different.

HOWEVER I bet she will still have the bulk of the Eyfs (all the principles and statutory requirements) in place anyway because that's how we all work :D

Of course I will. And even though I'm not doing written obs I'll still be observing him and planning what to do next to help him develop.....

(But it is nice to be not having to fill in a million forms......)
