Full fee as it's normaly just for two and half hours anyway and if you needed to pick up early you are the one 'on call'. Most people get the pre-school session free anyway!

I charge too. I think most would as you can't fill the 2 or so hours in between and they will need the place in the holidays.

I charge full if it is a 2 1/2 session and I drop off and collect. Where I live 3 year olds are able to access sessions that last from 9 until 3 and for this I charge a 50% retainer for those hours as parents want the space in school holidays.

I think you have to work out what works best for you

I charge time and a half for dropping child at nursery and then picking them up, as well as travel allowance (the nursery is a 7mile round trip) and full for the 2 1/2 hours in between as I cannot fill space!!
On the days when I drop off but don't collect, I charge time and a half and travel but only retainer for the 4hours required during holidays.
I did this after talking to my childminding support officer, who suggested the above charging system.

At the moment I only charge half, but I have a lo starting nursery in september and will be charging full, as it is impossible to fill the space as it needs to be kept open for the holidays. Also the one starting in Sept is 3 and so will be funded for nursery, so parents won't have to pay nursery and me!

I charge full if I take and collect form either preschool or nursery. If I only do one of the journeys then I charge either to the point of drop off (rounding up of course) or from the time of collection. In this case I make sure parents are aware that under normal circumstances I will not be available to collect their child in an emergency as I may have filled my hours with another child.

Yes definatley charge. Most childminders do. I fdo too and I have never had a problem from the parents.
Also, because it is a pre-school, I take it they will close during school hols? You need to keep the space open for the child for then, so you should charge.
