hi i am attending a childminding briefing meeting on saturday and am really looking forward to it, but am unsure if i will be able to continue with registering due to living in an upstairs flat. does anyone know if this would cause a problem with becoming a registered childminder?

kind regards

No it isn't usually a problem. Though you will need to have a close look at your lease. Ofsted will also need to see a letter of permission from your Freeholders and or Landlord if you rent.

I started Childminding while I was living in a first floor flat with no garden and continued to for 10yrs until we bought a house five years ago.

Not a prob - on my ICP course there was a girl who lived in a 3rd floor flat and one of the tutors on my pre-reg course used to be an inspector and once visited a childminder who lived on a houseboat!! It's all about inclusive practice - not everyone lives in a house and it's good for children to learn about that.
